What is NUKEleus?

NUKEleus is open source wizard program which will assist in the installation and configuration of DotNetNuke.

What is DotNetNuke?

DotNetNuke is an open-source content management system ideal for creating and depolying projects such as commercial websites, corporate intranets and extranets, and online publishing portals. It is also a project with a vision: to evolve its software through human participation and the sharing of knowledge.

How does NUKEleus work?

NUKEleus makes installing DotNetNuke easier by handling the common, and sometimes complex tasks involved in setting up DotNetNuke. It will handle the following tasks with minimal user interaction:

• Allows you to install ANY version of DotNetNuke
• Creates an install folder (you can choose where to install DNN)
• Unzips the files
• Gives approriate folder permissions to the machine's ASPNET account
• Creates a virtual directory (you can choose the VDir name)
• Creates a blank database in SQL Server (you can choose the database name)
• Edits the Web.Config file with your custom information
• Edits the DotNetNuke.sln and DotNetNuke.vbproj.webinfo files so you can open the solution

Is NUKEleus part of DotNetNuke?

No. NUKEleus is a completely seperate project from the DotNetNuke project. If you have a problem with NUKEleus, don't complain the DotNetNuke core team.

Can't I just install DotNetNuke by hand, using the documentation that comes with DotNetNuke?

Yes, absolutely. You are strongly encouraged to read the documentation that comes with DotNetNuke, whether you use NUKEleus or not. NUKEleus is simply a tool to make the installation process easier. Many of the problems reported on DotNetNuke's user forums are due to improper configuration issues. NUKEleus is one way to assist in combating that problem.

Is NUKEleus really free?

Yes. Free as in beer. The source code is freely available, and you can download and modify the code as detailed in the standard GNU license.

How can I contribute?

If you'd like to help, there are many things you can do. If you are a developer, then you may wish to submit code to improve the way NUKEleus works. If you are a user, feel free to post news of bugs and suggestions in the forums.
